Update . . .

This is a quick note for anybody that is waiting for the tute(s) to be posted.

I am experiencing some MAJOR computer problems. Mostly I get around to fixing them, but I think it is time for a new computer, which also means a move to Vista, something I have been putting off for a while.

Please bear with me . . .

You should just get a Mac, and then you could run OS X. After all, why deal with Vista when you could use the original?

Thanks for the advice, Luke. I'm sure it's well meant, but I consider myself way over the hill to start fiddling around with another OS.

At least Vista will have many M$ similarities to the previous ones, which in turn will mean a much shallower learning curve.

Thanks for visiting.

I'm all for a shallower learning curve! Hope all goes well.

LOL, papoosue. I will bear that in mind when trying to scribble the 'tutes'.

Like I said in an earlier post, "Lowest Common Denominator" are the buzzwords, and if that upsets some, so be it. This site is aimed at ALL, but mainly at the users who just want to 'use' without being fussed about the 'how'.

All does not go well. If you live in a non-English speaking country you really have to jump through the hoop to get software in English. The reverse is even 'truer' (I don't think that's a genuine word!), as I've never seen stuff made available for non-English speakers in the UK in any case!

Stand by for more.

I'm sorry things are continuing to be a real pain for you just now. Fingers crossed you get it all worked out - I have faith!

Heartfelt thanks, papoosue.

It is almost all done and dusted. The old computer has been shut off for a few days and I haven't been tempted to try and switch it on.

You know that feeling when you don't want to take on a task because you can't be sure of the outcome? 'Vista' makes you feel like that in the early stages. Just when you think you've got it cracked, up it jumps and bites you in the bum!

But I've been 'fiddling' with websites elsewhere and nothing much seems to have gone wrong so far. I think it just has to be the old "nose to the grindstone" once again.

Oh, BTW, for anybody that cares - Portugal has at long last started its summer!
